Project UX/UI – SERGIO (Surgical Environment & Resource Global Integration Operator)

Role

SERGIO is a modern operating room management system that integrates medical devices, surgical schedules, and staff workflows into a single, cohesive interface. The goal of the project was to design a comprehensive UX/UI experience for a platform that supports the daily work of surgical teams and medical infrastructure administrators. The scope included a redesign of the administrative panel, the OR touch panel, and systems for monitoring and surgical scheduling.

Project Objectives:

  • simplifying the management of operating room infrastructure,
  • enhancing the safety of medical personnel,
  • ensuring rapid access to critical information,
  • integrating multiple medical systems into a single environment.

Key Features

Operating Room (OR) Panel

  • Device control – managing medical equipment from a single interface.
  • Real-time surgery view – live monitoring of the procedure.
  • Procedure timer – tracking surgery duration and milestones.
  • Safety checklists – digital verification protocols for surgical teams.
  • Medical gas monitoring – tracking the supply and pressure of medical gases.

Surgical Scheduling

  • Surgery planning – managing the surgical pipeline.
  • OR and department assignment – allocating specific rooms and units to procedures.
  • Resource availability control – real-time tracking of staff, equipment, and beds.

Media Control

  • Medical imaging routing – directing video/image feeds across the network.
  • Source-to-monitor assignment – managing which display shows which data source.
  • Conference broadcasting – live streaming for educational or consultative purposes.
  • Admin Panel
  • User and role management – controlling access levels and permissions.
  • Device configuration – setting up and calibrating connected hardware.
  • System monitoring – tracking platform health and technical logs.

Project Scope

The SERGIO project included:

  • System Administration Panel – a centralized dashboard for managing the platform.
  • OR Touch Interface – the primary control panel for the operating room.
  • Operational Dashboards – real-time data visualization for surgical teams.
  • Surgical Scheduling – a comprehensive surgery planning module.
  • Medical Gas Monitoring – a dedicated tracking and alert system for gas levels.
  • Video Media Management – routing and control of surgical video feeds.
  • Surgical Safety Checklists – digital protocols for risk mitigation.
  • Notification and Alert System – real-time status updates and emergency signals.
  • System Visual Identity Concept – the branding and UI design language for the entire platform.
